ARC — A Brighter Tomorrow

The Universe

A world that was
never meant to be found

Everything on this page is stated in the Book One manuscript — the planetary physics, the history, the energy, the rules of the ability. Nothing has been extrapolated to fill a gap.

01Planetary record

Umara

In one of the Giant Elliptical Galaxies there existed an inhabited planet hidden far from the eyes of outsiders. Viewed from space it appeared as an exceptionally lush world, filled with agricultural greenery and countless lakes reflecting brilliant shades of blue.

Designation

T.D.-b

The name was chosen by Ancestral scientists for reasons that remained unknown, and no one had yet determined what “T.D.” represented. The letter “b” indicated that it was the first and only known habitable planet discovered in that system.

Water: Approximately 210 million trillion gallons

  • Northern Hemisphere

Towering mountain ranges, some reaching heights of 6,096 meters and capped with snow and ice.

  • Equatorial Belt

Fertile plains and lake regions supporting abundant vegetation.

  • Southern Hemisphere

Expansive forests and broad, flatter landscapes.

The thick cosmic dust clouds surrounding Umara ensured the planet remained concealed from the rest of the universe, and maintaining that secrecy remained the P.S.O.'s highest priority.

02The energy

Meta-energy

Named from the word metamorphosis. Umarian scientists believed Umara existed unusually close to the core region of one of the Giant Elliptical Galaxies, where concentrations of this mysterious energy were highest.

Metamorphosis

In Year Three A.U., the Ancestors began experiencing a phenomenon they called metamorphosis, developing enhanced telekinetic abilities unlike anything they had previously known.

The forgetting

Metamorphosis produced an unexpected side effect. The Umarians gradually began losing memories of their Ancestral past, although memories formed afterward remained intact.

Longevity

Umarians developed remarkably long life expectancies and could live up to 1,200 years.

Science and Technology Alliance theory

The S.T.A. proposed that Meta-energy originated from another plane of existence and entered their universe, disrupting star formation throughout Umara's region of space. According to their research, this energy not only enhanced Umarian abilities but also dramatically slowed aging.

Known to the Marconians as Safurak energy — “Safur” for short

03The ability

Umarian Telekinesis

  1. Light objects

The Umarians possessed the ability to move small objects through telekinesis — objects as light as a pencil, with little effort.

  2. Larger objects

With concentration, they could move larger objects for short periods.

  3. Combined lift

Groups of Umarians could combine their telekinetic abilities to move even heavier objects, including vehicles.

  4. Self-levitation

They could lift themselves into the air and float over obstacles when necessary, though they rarely did so. Most preferred walking, believing regular physical movement prevented muscle atrophy and preserved their overall health.

04Two older races

The Ancestors and the Ancients

They are not the same people — and the difference is the engine of the whole trilogy.

Umarian origin

The Ancestors

The older race from which the Umarians descend. They originated on a planet in another distant galaxy before discovering and settling on Umara — Year Zero A.U. The great crash occurred on the very first day they arrived, and massive amounts of history, data and cultural artifacts were lost forever in the wreckage. They ultimately renamed themselves the Umarians, believing Umara had unlocked the greatest potential within them.

  • Questioning the origins of the Umarian Ancestors is forbidden.
  • Over 500 generations, the entire population forgot the true origins and history of The Ancestors.
  • The P.S.O. preserved and studied Ancestral records privately, keeping them hidden for over 500 generations.

Marconian enemy

The Ancients

A race far superior to the Marconians, who invaded and enslaved them on Marcona and forced them to mine generons and aderons from the asteroids orbiting Marcona's sun. The captors possessed telekinetic abilities that allowed them to move objects with their minds, and carried the Meta-energy the Marconians called Safur. No one knew where they came from. The Marconians eventually overthrew them and pushed them back beyond the brim of the universe — and no one knew where the Ancients went afterward.

  • The Ancients destroyed Marcona in the process of being driven out.
  • Emperor Dimonicur possessed the abilities of the Ancients long before anyone else knew such abilities existed.
  • The Marconian fighters adapted their refractor cloak since they attacked the Ancestors generations ago.
05Recovered from the Archives

The three prophecies

Recovered by Dr. Vil Tasc'n from a partially burned Ancestral electronic notebook, its edges scorched in the great crash and the owner's name completely burned away. Two prophecies were legible. Scientific curiosity pushed him deeper into the corrupted files — and uncovered a third that left him cold.

  1. I

“Someone has come to change our present to save the future.”

  2. II

“An 'ark' will be built to bring us to the promised land.”

  3. III

“Can Arca'n be… the destruction of our planet?”

    Author name unretrievable

Larcastle

Larcastle

City

The city Arca'n, Casp'rid, Jestra, Conl'n and Dunys all call home. Chaotic, beautiful and unpredictable — from crowded streets and quiet alleys to late-night walks, street races and long talks on the rooftops. Larcastle's research centers and medical institutes are where Dr. Vil Tasc'n spends most of his time.

Soteria

Region

The region Ikian Spectre represents as senator. During the Marconian approach, Arca'n reaches Soteria and reports his position: Capitol Point.
