Writing as Frank Di Rosa · Francesco Di Rosa

This book began more than 40 years ago, when I was 10 years old. Over the course of three consecutive nights, I dreamed this story in three parts and wrote everything down in my diary.

Biography

Frank Di Rosa dreamed the ARC story as a ten-year-old boy, across three consecutive nights, and wrote all three parts down in his diary. That first version was, in his own words, a much more childish one — filled with bubble gum, candy wrappers, and the boundless imagination of childhood. He imagined traveling through space, witnessing epic battles among the stars, exchanging laser fire, and possessing extraordinary powers.

That sense of imagination stayed with him until high school, when his life began to change. After experiencing bullying and later going through marriage, two separations, and eventually a divorce, he lost his sense of direction.

On his 50th birthday, he made the decision to revisit the places connected to his childhood memories — the site where his family home once stood, his old school, the flea market where he used to spend hours playing video games. Eventually he visited his former elementary school teacher, whose photographs of the past brought back a flood of warm memories. He suggested organizing a class reunion, and she enthusiastically agreed.

The reunion took place on 2 November 2024, and in many ways it became a turning point in his life. He read passages from his childhood diary aloud to his former classmates and his teacher — including the story he had dreamed over those three nights decades earlier. Some parts were wild, exaggerated and undeniably unrealistic, but there was something compelling hidden within them. One former classmate told him: you have a great imagination, you should write a book about it.

At that moment, something clicked. He began filling notebooks with ideas, and quickly realized that parts of the original story needed to evolve in order to resonate with a broader audience and create a stronger narrative. Nearly two years later he had completed three books, revising them repeatedly to strengthen the storylines, improve continuity, and make the overall arc more cohesive.

Creating the universe

How the story came back

  1. Age 10

    Three consecutive dreams

The story arrives in three parts across three nights and is written down in a childhood diary.

  2. High school

    Real life happened

Bullying, and later marriage, two separations and a divorce. A lost sense of direction.

  3. 50th birthday

    Returning to the past

Revisiting the family home, the old school, the flea market — and a former elementary school teacher.

  4. 2 November 2024

    The reunion

Diary passages read aloud to former classmates. “You have a great imagination. You should write a book about it.”

  5. Nearly two years

    Three books

Notebooks filled with ideas, then three completed and repeatedly revised manuscripts.

Creative philosophy

Grounded science, unbound imagination

“This project required countless hours of research into scientific principles, because I wanted the story to feel grounded in real science while still allowing imagination to soar.”

Dedication

Dedicated to God for giving me the knowledge, wisdom, determination, and patience to write my books. Dedicated to my fiancée, my fortune cookie, Rosita, who encouraged me to write all three books. I also dedicate this book to my late father, Giuseppe Di Rosa, who taught me the value of hard work and an appreciation for nature, and to my mother, Anna Di Rosa, who taught me to love reading and to never give up on life.

Acknowledgments

I would like to thank my best friend, Steve, for being my sci-fi go-to sounding board and for helping me develop the storylines and plots of these books — as well as Shaun and Angelina, for taking the time to read all of my books and provide me with valuable feedback.

Bonus chapter

As a special addition, a bonus chapter at the end of Book One features excerpts from the original version recorded in the author's childhood diary. There are no spoilers — the story evolved considerably, especially in its middle and ending — but readers can see where the journey began.

I have known Francesco Di Rosa for nearly thirty years, and throughout that time, I have always admired his natural ability to tell a story.
